410a superheat.

Hi, I am trying to adjust the charge of an R410A AC system which uses a piston metering device. I measured indoor wet bulb and dry bulb as well as outdoor dry bulb temps and got a calculated superheat of 24F which seems high to me. I'm in Texas so it's pretty hot and humid. Temps for target calculation: Indoor WB: 71 measured right below air filter

What should my normal operating pressures on 410a systems be? R410a suction pressure may be around 120psi, and R410a head pressure may be anywhere from 225psi to 350psi. Many conditions could apply here, there’s absolutely ‘no’ set point pressure for 410a, r22, or anything else. Educate yourself on whats going on in the heat transfer process. Subtract the saturation (or dew point) temperature from the actual line temperature to get your superheat (temperature gained above the boiling point) at that point of the system. This range ensures that the refrigerant is fully evaporated before entering the compressor, optimizing system performance and efficiency.

Excessive or high superheat is an indication of insufficient refrigerant in the evaporator coil for the heat load present. This could mean that not enough refrigerant is entering the coil or this could also indicate an excessive amount of heat load on the evaporator coil.Figure 1 is an example of a superheat-charging curve instead of a table. The curve is based on 400-cfm/ton airflow at 50% relative humidity across the evaporator coil. The steps to charge a system according to this curve are listed below. 1. Measure indoor drybulb temperature (DBT).
